The story is set in London; post-war Britain (1923) and it talks about the events that takes place from the morning of Wednesday till the evening of the same day.

Mrs. Clarissa Dalloway is planning to give a party by the end of the day. So, the story begins with her getting ready and preparing everything for the party.

• “Mrs. Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself.” This is the very first line of the novel but as you will proceed in the story you will find that Mrs. Dalloway is from a well to do family, yet she does every single thing on her own. This particular line introduces us not just to the character of Mrs. Dalloway but also her way of doing things.

• In the beginning I found it a bit difficult because of a vast number of characters but eventually I started loving the language in which Virginia Woolf has linked each character. I am not giving this book five stars for the plot. In general, the plot was very simple. I loved the way in which the book is written.

The writing style made me fall in love with this book. Virginia Woolf not only talks about the events that are taking place but also, she talks about what an individual might be thinking or let me rather use the term ‘Stream of Consciousness’.

• Virginia Woolf also pick themes like the place of women in society, how people used to deal with if particular person is having mental illness during those times and may other things that I found heavy but content rich.

He wakes up and he is freaking up, but he is not really concerned about his actual situation (that he has turned into a giant insect), he is more concerned about him getting late for work. He is a travelling agent who is trying his best to pay his father’s debt and at the same time taking care of his parents and a seventeen-year-old sister. Despite of this transformation, He did not think about him even once. He was accepting what he became overnight and although everyone was taking proper care of him and was trying to make him comf...
